Don’t want to pay for content hidden behind the New York Times’ recently-raised paywall? Hopping over it may be easier than you think. Since the Times’ announcement two weeks ago that it would start charging for access to its site, programmers, readers and bloggers have made a sport of finding the holes in the so-called Grey Lady’s digital wall, spreading their tactics far and wide. Some have burrowed in with lines of code, others are finding free access just by switching Web browsers.

Despite Paywall, New York Times Readers Spot Holes to Read for Free
Amazon Kindle eBook Lending opens up
Amazon has opened up a new free service, Kindle Book Lending, which allows owners of eBooks bought from the site to share them with their friends and family. At present the new service is only available on Amazon.com, but is expected to roll-out across the globe early in the new year.
To lend an eBook via Kindle Book Lending, all you have to do is click on the “Loan this book” button next to the details of the title in either your bought books section (under “Manage Your Kindle”) or on the product pages themselves. Not all titles are available for lending, however, due to rights issues, so each Kindle book product page will now tell you whether the service is enabled or not.
Dusk World – Interactive Reading comes to the Kindle
Do you recall when I told you about KindleQuest, a website that runs adventure games like Zork for your Kindle ? Amazon just released an app that removes the need for an internet connection.
It’s called Dusk World, and after playing with it for a few minutes I’d say it’s closer to the old Choose-your-own-Adventure books than it is to Zork. The price is $5.99, and it only works on a Kindle
(not the apps).

Jumping on the Bandwagon: Google launches its own e-reader
It seems like just about everyone nowadays is getting into the e-reader market, or changing the way it operates in the e-reader market (for instance, by introducing 3G capabilities or WiFi) and Google is no different.
Google’s eBooks will now compete with with offerings presented by Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple. The launch has long been predicted, and will first be launched in the US than expanded to other countries next year.
Formerly known as Google Editions, the new platform will be web-based but include various technologies to avert piracy.

e-Readers Compared: Kindle, Kobo, Nook,Sony PRS-900

With Amazon’s recent announcement that digital e-books outsold hardcover books for the first time, and paperbacks destined to a similar fate in the near future, we can safely say the e-book revolution is upon us. That doesn’t necessarily mean, however, that the devices upon which we read those books — digital e-readers, tablet computers, smartphones — are anywhere near their final form. Last December, we took a look at the most popular e-readers on the market, and, while many companies have made only incremental alterations to their lineups since then, a few new additions and serious price-drops among others have vastly changed the landscape.

The Art of Lucid Dreaming – a New eBook Release
With the release of 2010′s sci-fi blockbuster movie, Inception, the world has finally “woken up” to the concept of self awareness in dreams. This scientifically-proven phenomenon is known as lucid dreaming.
Lucid dreams are exceptional for two main reasons: first, they are extremely vivid and lifelike, placing the dreamer in a rich virtual reality existence where anything is possible. Secondly, they allow the dreamer to manipulate elements of the dream at will. This gives us the power to take wild flights of fancy, forge intimate connections with other dream figures, and even talk directly to the subconscious self which lives and breathes within the lucid dreamscape.
